Okay, Earl I was wondering about that. Sure appreciate your willingness to follow along on this thread and keep me in line. I was comparing picture of other 800's numbers and this engine seemed to be smaller than the others, so I thought that maybe it may have been a conversion locomotive. Still interesting the coupler mounts.
I'm really having a hard time finding any pictures of 305 or 306, but I haven't given up yet.
A good book to read that has much information in it. The Thundering at Their Passing, by Robert D. Turner. There aren't a ton of old photos in it, but much in the way of information, I found myself reading, and turning pages and going to the footnotes which were all very good. Got caught up in it, then I realized I was looking for photos.
