I guess the beauty in seeing this picture is that we know the tender was in an accident, and in veiwing the photos that Dave Grandt posted of the 554 with a sloped backed tender and then one with no tender at all makes one think that it must have picked up a tender from another engine before it was renumbered to 306. I really think that the success the D&RGW had with the Alco K-28's and the Baldwin K-36's and then their creations of the K-37's changed the future for any of the 1800's built locomotives.
Thanks everyone for your input on this, if by chance you stumble onto another photo of 554 or 306 I'd love to see it.
