Notice that the wheel spacing on the standard gauge switcher 554 is completely different from the 306's driver spacing.

Great to see a couple of photos of 306 in several iterations. Anybody got a shot of 555/305?

Several, if not all, of the 70 Class (later C-19) that were converted to standard gauge switchers in 1888 and 89 (Original #s 401, 402, 405, 410 & 411 - coming back as #s 405, 401, 410, 411 & 402 respectively) were equipped with the long 3rd driver connected main rods when rebuilt in 1898 and 1900. Someone at Burnham apparently had a good idea. But photos show that the short rods were back on the engines after a few years.
