About 10 years ago a friend of my father’s was driving deer towards the end of deer season here in Northern Wisconsin. He stepped over a big log onto what he thought was a pile of leaves. Underneath was a Black bear who didn’t take kindly to being disturbed. The guy was bit underneath his left armpit. He said it felt like it was in a vice. Only ended up with 8 stitches where the bear broke the skin on his back. Said he had to lay there & play dead for awhile before the bear left. Then he had to walk out a couple miles. He make it on the local news though.
The attached photo from 2019 was when one came looking for a snack by a neighbors bird feeder.
