As for James's question below, I was curious about that as well. I know the Davenport engines never left the US and didn't go to France, so perhaps they were painted differently?
I do know there was a light OD green color used in WW1 on some carriages and wheeled vehicles, but all the stuff I've seen with original paint was a darker shade than this locomotive is painted. I know the Baldwin specs called for grey paint when they left the company paint shop, so was there data discovered supporting the Davenports maybe were painted in a different color?
I've seen photos of the Davenports in the US and most were painted black but most of those shots were taken
well after they left the factory.
