Two nice shots we hadn't seen before. All these travel escapades bring to light just how difficult it could be to actually see or photograph the D&RGW NG, even as late as the 60's. You are dealing with remote trackage and less than desirable roads, bad weather, not always reliable intel, and of course transportation issues. In 1985 Kathi and I went to Colorado for a couple of weeks. I had a 1980 Buick Skylark(the newer X body type).
We had to stay overnight In La Junta, CO for 2 days, waiting for a new water pump to arrive by bus from Denver. I could relate other auto issues over the years, but that is always a concern when you are traveling 1400 miles from here in Ohio to Chama, and a bit more to Durango. I marvel at some of the stuff recorded in the 40-60's especially in the winter.
