Re: Frank Barry narrow gauge photos of the winter of 1964

I called Frank Barry this evening and had a fascinating conversation with him. The really great news is that he will be publishing a book of his photos of the winter of 1964. Since Frank and his wife Barbara were living in Chama that winter, he had opportunities for steam-in-the-snow photos that would have been the envy of us short time visitors. He mentioned May as a possible publication date, and I am really looking forward to the book.

It is amazing how coincidences come together. Yesterday I talked to Tom Koglin in Santa Fe, who was on my #2 and #3 narrow gauge winter trips in 1964, and he mentioned meeting Frank in Mexico in 1962. Tom was riding the train north from the Guatemala border (he didn't have a Guatemala visa, so could not enter), and an Anglo person got on the train - it turned out to be Frank.
Frank mentioned that he has written a book about his amazing railroad adventures in Mexico, but it has not yet been published. Maybe after the Rio Grande narrow gauge book....

More great things to look forward to!
