Well after dark helper 493 rolled into Chama, followed by a 492 with a long train of large diameter gas pipe
I walked west to the end of the yard to watch 480 and 488 bring in a long string of mainly empty flat cars and open end gons from Durango. Back at the oil house, after the engines had set out their trains, I found another rail fan who was meeting the train crews and the round house fitter (round house foreman ?), and appeared to know everyone pretty well. It turned out that his name was Frank Barry and that he was involved in Peace Corps training in Chama.
After spending some time in one of the warm engine cabs, I wandered back to my Shamrock accomodations. The next morning the hostlers were busy servicing the four engines. Since the engines were continuing east and west respectively, none had to be taken around the wye.
488 and 480 had to wait their turn as the crews for for 493 and 492 were called for an hour earlier than the crews for the two Cumbres turns
