I was not aware of Ernie's involvement in the 1976 development of the C&TS "standard" lettering that has been my favorite for nearly 45 years now.

In regards to the RGS-style "Sunrise" herald, Tank -
I vaguely remembered hearing it was done by John Coker, but I found the following the following intriguing snippet at [
