A quote from Julius Caesar (100 BCE-44 BCE) that I remember from my 9th grade studies of Latin. It keeps rambling around in my mind as it has meaning and value over the centuries, even into today's world.

It is "Fere libenter homines id quod volunt credunt."

This translate to "Men readily believe what they want to believe." A variant translation is "Men willingly believe what they wish to be true."
