Rio Arriba County, where Chama is located, has had only a total of 51 cases and only 1 death. This is what happens when politicians make sweeping rules without knowing what they are doing.
It seems to me that NM's public health officials appreciate the rapid growth those of us in the more hard-hit states have experienced first hand.
The
New Mexico Department of Health's COVID-19 in New Mexico webpage currently shows that there are now 59 total cases in Rio Arriba county. That works out to be a rate of 151 cases per 100K of population in the county.
If the number of cases in Rio Arriba were to double just three times, then the county's case rate would be 1208 cases per 100K.... putting it up around where NY State's case rate was at its peak (247,000 cases in a population of 19.45 million.)
