It is difficult to find everything that was done to the engines. I got my info from D&RGW records, D&RGW Greenlight, Bob Richardson's Narrow Gauge News, various newspapers, and talked to the D&RGW engineer who ran the last 268 run to Sapinero before it was rented to the scrapper. The D&RGW records do not show the changes made to the engines for the movie. I have the D&RGW equipment card for the 345 and it says only the engine was wrecked in the movie.
In all of the books and articles I write, everything is based on documentation or photos. If I ever give an opinion (which is seldom). I clearly say it is an opinion. So many today do not seem to know the difference between a fact and an opinion. One of the proudest moments in my life was one day at the Colorado Railroad Museum when Jack Thode told the a number of people attending a meeting including Richardson, Kindig,. Gordon Chappell, Mallory Hope Ferrell, and others that I was the most thorough research since Mac Poor. Richardson told me later that that was the best compliment he had ever head Thode say. My writings are not perfect, none are, but I do my homework.
