A couple of points. The photo helps, since Earl and I now realize the footage that we have that we thought was 1951, is not. There is no snowplow on 473 in our footage, and thus it is 1950. This means the 345 is the regular switcher, and not doing the movie for another year.
I think the issue with 268 is this. Perhaps it was actually there, but when it came time for the big collision scene they had 345 as a stand-in for 268. When I read that it was a stand-in for 268 I assumed 268 was never there, but based on Jerry's info with the fire and 473 rescue, perhaps 268 was actually there, meaning 3 engines actually took part in the movie....268, 319, and 345. This info not only changes our D&RGW material dates, but also the RGS material, as I am sure they were the same two trips....1949 and 1950! Deciphering history can be both exciting and perilous!!!
Thanks,
Greg
