I didn't see anyone from Silverton answer the question. The sheriff doesn't sit at the entrance to town arresting people but there is a big electric state highway sign proclaiming "for locals only." Traffic has picked up some but with limited openings, not much is happening. The county has closed off the high mountain roads such as the one to Animas Forks although the road has been cleared of snow. There are only three law enforcement guys to cover the county so there are those who thumb their noses at local wishes. I think you'll find the locals mostly in favor of these restrictions, and maybe not so much so from the 20 and 30 year olds. I know every one working in my building is following the protocols and there are about 10 of us, all non-tourism related. We are in no rush to open up to the outside world. I did make a trip to Durango yesterday with my business partner to consult on a business property we own, wore masks including the realtor, a quick stop at the City Market, where the rather thin crowds wore masks, and then came home on a mostly empty US 550. It was strange to see a main street in Durango with entire blocks with no traffic on a holiday weekend. And nothing was happening with the train, and it will be interesting to see what happens. We can wait a while longer, and the restaurant in Silverton we have a financial interest in can wait too.
