But now I'm wondering about the first shot above, #497 at Ferguson's (aka Hangman's) trestle. It's six frames AHEAD on the same roll of film as the Los Pinos shot posted second, but you say it couldn't have been taken on the same day if the second one was on the day you relieved #488. I don't remember hanging around the C&TS 'til the 26th that year, but might have

Anyway, I kinda thought that might be you at the throttle in the second photo, above, whether it's the 22nd or the 26th. Here's a pixel-for-pixel crop of the large scan done several years ago on my old CanoScan flatbed, not sharp enough to tell if that's you in your Derby. Obviously, I need to dig out the original and re-scan it on the MUCH sharper Nikon 9000
