As noted above, I'm pretty sure that the color photos of the #497+#487 double-header I posted previously were taken on Saturday, September 21, 1996 — a few days after the Jim Trowbridge charters on Sept. 14 & 15 and Sept 17 that year. I presume that helper #497 proceeded on to Antonito on the 21st, and pulled Train #1 with the old flat-roof coaches westbound the following day

Six frames later on the same roll of 2¼ film there's a shot of #497 passing Los Pinos tank westbound pulling the outside-framed home-made caboose, two boxcars, and then a string of clerestory-roofed coaches

Was it standard practice in that era to keep the flat-roofed coaches on the east end and the clerestory-roofed coaches on the west end and swap engines between the two trainsets at Osier (since they couldn't be turned) but return the coaches to their home terminals?
