Flying caboose!
The caboose body was jacked up, blocked in place, and the old frame removed from under it.
The new frame has been flipped over to its upright position (we assembled it upside down).
The new end beams have been attached and painted
With the new frame elevated off the floor, the wheels have been rolled under it, waiting for the mounting of pedestals and journal boxes
Steel plates were added by the C&S on the outside of both main sills. These plates appear to be re-purposed from a composite standard gauge passenger car truck frame (we found three pedestal outlines in the plates, all facing the same direction). This might explain why these plates look like swiss cheese...
The plates have been mounted to each main sill, bolted in place with new carriage bolts and square nuts, and painted to match the main sills.
