Hi Arnie, welcome to the Forum. Boy, this is an old thread dug up. You may want to send a Personal (or is it Private) Message to gh, as he’s local and knows the old grades in the area. He will answer you directly if he chooses to.
As to the locomotives, Omer Lavallee’s
Narrow Gauge Railways of Canada just gives their disposition after leaving the Lenora Mt. Sicker, and not their end fate. #1 went to HM Ellis in Lombard BC at some point after 1904, a number of years before the line was abandoned. It was a pretty small engine and I gather not up to the task.
#2 left in 1906, also before the line was closed, and was acquired by Westholme Lumber, “which used part of the LMSCCo (Lenora Mt. Sicker) grade.” #3 was wrecked after the line closed in 1912, but was repaired and also operated by Westholme Lumber. So these latter two engines remained local, and maybe the forestry museum in Duncan or other would have more information. Wouldn’t it be neat if they were still out in the woods there somewhere.
Anyway, please post pics if you go on a hike. Will be interesting to see them.
Cheers,
Ralph
