We now have arrived in Aguas Calientes. There is absolutely no cars in the city and is only built up of restaurants and hotels for Machu Pichu. The train is the only way into the city and the only way for tourists to get to one of the wonders of the world.

More than once our group described Aguas Calientes as a sort of Disneyland. Here you can see a railroad bridge that cuts over the river through the city.

When riding the railroad we passed many maintenance crews on sidings. They have been working to expand the railroad for quite some time now. It is extremely cool to see a narrow gauge railroad being built in the 21st century. There is a narrow guage speeder here:

There was many different types of locomotives including cab coach style as well as lead locomotive style. We saw a Narrow Guage steam locomotive very briefly on static display but sadly I was unable to take a picture. The cab-coach style is a favorite to Inca Rail who rents the line from Peru Rail to offer a more luxurious ride. You can see an example from a shot from my hotel in Aguas Calientes

I did not take this picture but I believe this is the steam locomotive we saw. [[UPDATE]] After some further research it is actually Andes Class number 123 which is the same make as the one below. I replaced the picture with the one we saw.
