Survey wise, there really wasn't anything that concerning. Couple of pad welded spots and old riveted patches, but nothing crazy. I haven't taken a UT tester to the 494 / 495 but visually they look considerably worse boiler-wise than the 493.

491 / 499 were both shopped and received large portions of new boiler in '48 and are probably the nicest two boilers of the K-37's (not withstanding the work that D&S has now done to 493, of course).
