Just for the record the last K37's in use were 493 and 498 in 1968, with 498 being the last one to run.
497 wound-up in Durango from its last run in 1967. These engines were stored inside the Alamosa Roundhouse (493 and 498),
until Bradshaw bought them for the D&S in the 80's.
494 and 495 finished their service several years earlier in 1961. They have been parts sources for the C&TS, and are likely the worse of the K-37's.
The last one to run on either railroad was 497 which ran on the D&S and was swapped to the C&TS for 482 which has run on the D&S.
I have heard the boiler on 492 is in pretty good shape. Unless business really picks up on the C&TS I think it is unlikely you will see another engine restored in the
near future. After all they have 463 now, and will soon have 168 for specials, not to mention visiting engines such as 315.
I image the D&S wants to see how 493 works out before deciding their next restoration project.
