In general terms, some of the oddities in the track layout come from changes that were made in the track layout over the years, such as a switch being taken out and the diverging track being left as the only track with a seemingly random curve in it.

as to the specific question on the jog in track 10 (I will add to Jerry's answer) tracks 8, 10 and 11 were once run through stalls of the roundhouse that then saw some changes after the last three stalls of the wood roundhouse burned in 1935. The jog in track 10 served to bring the rest of track 10 into line with the radial portion from the turntable(The radial tracks "radiaite" out from the turntable at a set angle to each other and are straight for the first 90' or so, resulting in a compact layout with a precise amount of space in between the tracks inside the roundhouse. The straight portion of track 10 was not headed exactly in the desired direction so the jog was used to bring it in line. Hopefully my rambling explanation makes some sense) Track 11 is an anomaly as it starts from the turntable in a curve, goes straight for a little bit and then curves again. As Jerry stated, Jeff Ramsey's research and photos show the track to have originally done this, they just don't tell us why! We are trying to put the track back as it was, to the best of our abilities, and are finding that some of the seemingly weird stuff makes sense once it is in place and you can start to see the bigger picture of how it went together. Jeff can probably explain the whole thing better and David's post below adds some insight into possible reasons things are as they are.

As a side note we are generally building our track on top of the previous track (both as an expedient and desire not to destroy the remains of the original track, many of the ties are still there in places) and we often find original ties a few inches under the surface that confirm the location of the track.
