I notice no staggered joints. Not only that, all of the rail is at least 117 years old (newest stick I have seen is 1912) and have been in god knows how many other tracks, the ties are all on at least their second use, some of the spikes are ones we find buried in the dirt and put back in the new track for the heck of it and the joint bars are a mish mash. Everything you see we have because no one else wanted it. On the plus side, some of the track bolts are new, only because we ran out of used ones.
Will track be used? Of course, why else would we be building it? The only really fun thing about building track is seeing something move over it. Of course so far it is all just yard trackage....
On a more serious note, we do make an effort to stagger the joints on track that is expected to see more traffic. The new track headed towards the depot from the turntable was started with a 16' short rail on one side and a full length rail on the other.
