I have to admit the cars were pretty nice on the E&P. However, if any prospector or cowboy needed to get somewhere, there was only one class of seating that I know. I might point out that the Indians were given free passage on the E&P, but their preferred way of travelling seems to have been on top of the equipment or on flat cars. Better air conditioning I think, and a better view to survey their homeland. In any event, there were minimum problems with the Indians. I have read stories where the locals at Palisade, which intersected with the Transcontinental often used to get together with the Indians and hold fake shootouts that struck fear into the transcontinental passengers going through Palisade. Legend has it after the "show" they would adjourn to the local saloon and have a good laugh at the whole affair. It may be just a local legend, but it is a good story.
