You are right about cars is the late 1880s becoming less ornate. In fact, the E&P cars at their first repainting became much less ornate. Eventually the cars were painted a deep maroon and monochrome. I can appreciate the change as field work had less time to replicate the ornate art work. The cars were meant for revenue and they were not making money the longer they were in the shop and all the upkeep that is needed to preserve art work. The only exception would be the letter board for the name of the railroad. I wanted the original design because Eureka is restored to its 1870s appearance and the ornate artwork on the car is in keeping with that original style of the locomotive.
