The D&RG examples of this class had a quirk in that they did not have a water glass, only the gauge cocks. I've read someplace that they were commonly operated by just a single man. I can't imagine they were too popular an assignment. I don't know whether a water glass was added later on. The EBT example had a conventional backhead, with a water glass.
They were acquired in various colors. The EBT engine was plain black with very little trim. The D&RG had examples in brown (lake), green (olive green), and black, all with a fair amount of line trim.
