It seems I did not give sufficient credit.
To be clear, I do not want to overlook the work performed by #483 at a most critical time in the C&TS's history. Had it not been in working order at the beginning, things could have turned out very differently, and not for the better. I am not giving an opinion one way or the other on whether or not it should stay at the C&TS, nor am I stating that I believe its restoration should never happen. I'm just stating that I lack the experience with it that other folks have, so the context of my knowledge of the locomotive is different. I would like to see another locomotive in service, but I personally would like to see a class of locomotive in operation that we do not currently have. If my wishes came true, there would be sufficient ridership to sustain a K37 & #483, in addition to the current fleet. All of this is hypothetical right now because the ridership numbers would have to increase substantially to justify 2 more large locomotives.
No disrespect intended,
Dave
