I think the staff was a radio antenna. The agent lived in the depot. John Norwood was agent at Crested Butte and told me of stringing an antenna wire from the depot to the section house.

When the branch shut down the agent at Taos Junction was transferred to Marshall Pass. Following is some history from Taos Junction

Referring to your letter August 23rd, File Y-93 in regard to disposing of icebox in depot at Taos Junction.
This icebox is not for sale as we intend to load and ship it to Durango, for use in Durango freight station. Am requesting Chief Dispatcher Graham to set a flat car at Taos Junction for loading this icebox and you will arrange to have section men load it promptly as possible, billing to Agent L.M. Forsman at Durango. Advise when done. C.B. Carpenter

Regarding clean up train to be operated to Santa Fe tomorrow, returning Saturday.

Mr. Evans from Auditors office will accompany this clean up train; however he will not have sufficient time to handle work which has been assigned to him and also make collection of freight charges on shipments that will move on this train. Therefore Mr. Baker, formerly agent at Taos Junction will accompany this train in both directions, making collections for shipments and remitting to agent at Antonito on return trip.

Mr,. Graham kindly arrange for an extra caboose to be placed on this train for use of Auditor and Traveling Agent.
