Me too, William -
So much so that I splurged a few years ago and had Jeff Ellingson paint her portrait for me as a 20"x32" watercolor
:
The slide that the painting is based on, taken the last day she ran, was shot straight into the sun and is so dark in the shadows that almost no detail can be seen. But that wasn't a problem for Jeff — she's sitting about fifty feet from the back door of his office, so when he wasn't sure what went where, he just stepped outside.
I sure wish one of her sisters on the C&TS could be available for the 50th Anniversary commemoration of The Last Real Freights that Jim Wrinn of
TRAINS is setting up on the C&TS next August 25 & 26 (see [
ngdiscussion.net] et seq.) Maybe they'll at least give #493 or #497 a coat of paint and number her as #498 for the photo session planned for Friday night, 08/24/18
. . .
FYI, here's the lineup of Los Tres Locomoturas de Vapor near the engine house in Chama on the evening of 08/28/68
