IMHO, the red cars show up well against both the bright green trees of spring & summer and the bright yellow leaves of autumn, even in most B&W photos, so it's an ideal year-round color for the C&TS. My personal preference would be for a slightly darker, more maroonish red and for black letter boards just below the roofs – like the parlor car was painted in 2009
