When pursing a "timeless" photo, my objective is to capture a scene without any identifiers of the year/decade. It's surprisingly easily to do on railroads like the C&T.
I have an appreciation for the here-and-now because someday it will also be history and I do my best to document things as they are. But, there's something special about capturing a scene that is the same today as it was decades ago... decades before I could have been there to experience it.
An example: this was taken in 2009 in Chama, looking west towards Durango from inside caboose 0579. This could easily be 1950. No real way to tell.
