We high-tailed it up to Lava Tank and got a good view of 488 and train rounding the curve and passing the tank. One can get a good view of the train consist we had at the end of 1982. 4 new coaches had been finished, named Alamosa, Antonito, Del Norte & Monte Vista. None of them had rest rooms, so we carried one of the box car coaches equipped with a restroom, along with a snack car and open gondola.
From here we bumped and crashed our way to Sublette, Where Jeff left us and we got on the train. After getting instructions on how to find Antonito again, Jeff headed home to Oklahoma, Russ and I headed home to Chama on board the train.
The snow continued. Here we are crossing Toltec Creek, heading toward Rock Tunnel.
