John,

Usually, my favorite loco is the one I got the best photo of. At least until I do better somewhere else. Your photo of 473 reminds me of the numerous times on Dave and Jeans trips we went out on the ice covering the Animas River. I'm really glad no-one ever went through where it was deep, that water was icy cold. Brrr!

I looked on my hard drives and couldn't find any photos from the 2009 trip of the 473 leaking that badly. Then I remembered I hardly took any photos that day because it was a grotty day (with a much better forecast for tomorrow) plus the steam leak pretty much covered the train. That's where the train full of friends comes in. I spent a very enjoyable day talking with folks I don't get to see very often and just taking in the narrow gauge. The roundhouse crew fixed the packing overnight and photos came the next day.
