Hi,
It is hard to say what my favorite locomotive is.
My one trip behind D&RGW 478 in 1972 was memorable and she is my first experience with D&RGW steam.
The 463 is interesting by how she was saved. When I saw 464 in Durango in 1972 (I was 16) as all youngsters dream, I wanted to purchase the 464 and fix her up. Bother were fortunately saved and in working order today.
I never really had a preference in the K36s but they looked sleek with good lines.
The 497 was a brutish looking no nonsense looking K37. It would hunker down and put its shoulder to the wheel.
I think I'd pick 478 but they all are wonderful.
I hope to return to Colorado to see 315 and 168 run again.
