Thanks for that map Terry, it fits with what I thought. I am just getting over the flu and haven't had a chance to scale my overlays to the map. Unfortunately Google uses a 'flexible scale ruler' on their maps that instead of changing size to show an even number of feet (like staying 500 feet long and changing length to match your zoom) it shows the same length of ruler but just changes the number of feet on it to odd amounts like 367', makes it kind of hard to scale overlays. I'll work on it when I get a chance.
Right now I've got about two months to figure out the track plan for my 'Mountain Town', which will likely be Curry. I will repost some of the maps from above to illustrate my questions here.
First, where was the water tank at curry? Nothing shown on the maps that I can see.
Also, were there ever any maps drawn of the Stoddard facilities at Curry besides the little sketch I posted earlier?
I also noticed here that there appears to be TWO passing tracks and a stub siding starting at the East end of Curry at station 962+65.0 (three switches shown), then at the West end the Baker White Pine/ Stoddard trackage leaves from the MIDDLE passing siding, is this accurate? Not sure why this would be.
Does anyone have any information, drawings or photos of the Stoddard Lumber Company mill shown on this later map? And what does 'H.B.' next to divided circles stand for?
I am trying to fit it into one 7' section with a siding that will hold 6 cars, I would like to go two sections but then it would kind of overwhelm the whole layout. It is designed to set up completely outside or in a big hall but the top part (sections 1, 2 and 3 and a 6' extension) is already 27' long and I hesitate to make it any larger, not even figuring how much room it takes to transport. Currently two sections, the extension and several boxes of trains and supplies FILLS the Caravan, I figure the complete layout with seven sections will fill a large trailer!
My goal for June at this point is to have all the standard gauge trackage in on sections 1 and 2, all the building shells and roads in place and at least have the narrow gauge laid out.
Thanks so much to all who have contributed. I don't think I can represent it with any kind of accuracy but hopefully will be able to capture some of the 'feel' of the area...
