Curry and McCoy

Here are the additional maps that Russell asked for. The first one shows a spur off of the SVRy mainline just a short distance below the east head blocks for Curry sidings. The next maps shows Curry siding which is actually 2 sidings along the main plus a spur leaving the main from the lower/east end of the siding. The spur that was shown on Russell's Curry sketch going to the log deck area I assume to be the one marked BWP on our map. Notice the F.M.Bennett spur. I believe I have seen reference to this elsewhere as a small lumber company with a mill situated track side at this location. More follow up is needed on that to find details. The 3 blue print maps show the McCoy area. Each successive map is further west. The first one show the location of the concrete dam and wood stave pipeline for the water tank further along. The next map shows the water tank location and the third is of the actual siding. If the weather is reasonably dry this is an interesting area to visit, as the concrete dam remains are still obvious, the wire wrapping running along the ground is a dead giveaway for the pipe line. No wood remains of the pipe, so presumably it was consumed by a fire in the area at some point. The concrete piers for the water tank are there, and there is some small debris around the siding area. All maps are from the SVRR archives collections. Note most of the blue print maps that I post are marked EOU Col. These were in fact held at Eastern Oregon University, digitally photoed by a late friend of mine for SVRR archives use, passed on to me for editing, then eventually the actual maps were donated to our archives. Perhaps at some point I will change the description in the photo captions (maybe when there are 36 hours in the day instead of 24). These maps if anyone is interested are book mounted and fold out. My friend was able to take the threaded fasteners out of the book to be able to photograph them individually. This was before scanners were available locally to do map size items. Our archives also holds 2 more nearly complete sets of blue print ROW maps that are folded and possibly of larger scale. These have not been digitized, but likely will be in time.
