AMEN, Earl -
That's a beautiful shot! Photos of that stretch of the line are relatively rare, as most of us phoamers and phraud-o-graphers tended to focus our efforts on the more dramatic scenery and action centered on Cumbres Pass. Thankfully John West and his friend Tom Gildersleeve each spent some time between Chama and Durango in the early 1960s; here's one of Tom's photos from October, 1962, showing #497 and #491 setting out a string of stock cars on what looks to me to be the same siding at Oxford that shows in the background of John's photo, above

Ernie Robart also made a significant effort to record the less spectacular parts of the San Juan Extension; this shot was taken just
east WEST* of Tiffany, in early July, 1967

* Correction by Ray Loose (aka Floppo) who is familiar with the area. And I should have known better anyway, 'cause if that photo was taken where I first thought it was then the thriving metropolis of Tiffany, Colorado would be prominent - or at least visible - in the background
