This train also cleared a bunch of freight cars out of the Durango yard that were in the way of the new loop construction. The cars were set out on the siding at Gato, and probably stayed there until the line was torn up and they were scrapped.

498 was the locomotive used. Andy Payne was engineer. This was the same day as the doubleheaded test run of 476 and 478 to Lava. All the fans were over in Alamosa, 498 was pretty much ignored. Only a few photos of the train exist.
