You've been reading too much Tony Hillerman, Ed -
Many anthro-apologists - and apologists for hijackers - claim that the Navajo and all other indigenous Americans are descendants of Asians who crossed from what is now called Siberia to what is now called Alaska, probably during an ice age many thousands of years ago when sea levels were much lower than at present, and then gradually spread throughout North and South America. So as not to stray too far from the now-discredited "turdle" theory, it's possible that - being of Asian ancestry - some of them were related to Teenage Mutant Ninjas who brought with them the recipe for a very potent version of Kim-Chee. So there is a slight possibility that Jim Chee does have some Kim Chee in his blood, and he may even add Kim-Chee to his armadillo stew on occasion.

p.s. OTOH, Bugs Bunny - arguably a hare, not a rabbit, and thus one of the better known cousins of the southwestern Jackelope - had a buddy named Colonel Leghorn, IIRC. Is that the person of whom you are thinking?
