Tom,
We're not picking on you specifically. The gentleman who shot the images that you referenced also got himself in hot water last fall in virtually the same location when he flew his UAV right in front of a photo line that had paid for an expensive charter freight. While I was paid participant at that charter, I wasn't in that location, nor was I involved in the fracas that followed. I did mention in that NGDF thread however that the use of the UAV at that location was more than just a nuisance to the photographers, and that without permission from the airport owner across the street, he should never have been flying there to begin with.
I'm sorry that you consider the posts from myself and a few others to be demeaning. That's not the intent. I have no issues with UAVs that are operated in accordance with the FARs. The problem is that we now have lots of folks who are purchasing these things in large numbers and operating them in the National Airspace System who, in many cases, don't know what the term "FARs" even means. The fact that there was an airport within line-of-sight of your shooting location and that you (apparently) weren't aware that its presence restricted what you could do with that UAV is of great concern to those of us who regularly fly aircraft in which the pilot's life is actually at risk.
