many thanks for the great images and info re the poles gentlemen , its incredibly helpful, especially where they deviated from the line side .
i have found a guy who has made me some prototypical poles , going from the photo i sent, i enclose some shots of them in position , from your knowledge, has he got them right or not ? (he is aware there's an issue with the wires being serrated , he's working on that its something to do with using direct x or open gl , probably mac specific)
Altogether he's created two versions , which includes a full pole and then one with the strap where the pole is cut off 4 insulators on top of the pole and two on the pole itself .
I'm not sure hes got the bottom two wires right or not , what do you think? i could not find an image where wires were running into these fittings.
the other shot i enclose is the one of the two small trestles out of antonito.
i've yet to see any shots of these , i have the lengths about right from measuring from google earth and the 'ticket to toltec' book.
can anyone comment re the trestle height and number of supports they have ( i am limited with the software as to how they turn out, as some models give fewer or more braces depending on the length of the bridge.google earth isnt accurate enough to give me any idea of how much lower the ground is near the trestle.
Finally , i can get pretty good info re vegetation levels from videos online from the last 20 years , but given i'm trying to re create the line from 60 years ago , in your estimation was there a lot less ground cover back in the 40s and 50s? I know there was much less in total from Chama to Cumbres than there is now, but theres a dearth of images of the Antonito to Toltec section and i want to get it as correct as i can if possible (being a bit of an obsessive and persistent cove:-).
