Re: OT - B17 warbird question

Hi,

Thanks for your comments. In reading one place in the fact based fiction book I'm reading, the starting order was 1 and then 3 which made me wonder about the numbering order.

In another place in the same book, taxiing the B17 after landing was done with only the outboard engines (1 and 4).

W. E. B. Griffing writes good books but there are things that sometimne do not sound right.

His description of the COI/OSS and early CIA is fascinating. I have not been able to find and "official" or published history of the OSS and the CIA but it sounds like an interesting chapter in WWII and Korean War history. Same as there seems to be a lot of interesting items on the web about the B17 and her spinoffs (XB38, YB40, C108) but nothing on the engine numbering.

Just wanted to be sure.
