I think I have probably posted all of these here before, but it was back when the file size limit was much smaller, so the ones posted did not work as well to see small details when reduced in size so much. Thanks Don for the higher size limit! At Tipton a wye was built in later years which had it's connections to the main on either side of the depot and the tail on the opposite side as the balloon track. I have no idea why the wye was added. These maps were part of a collection housed at Eastern Oregon University. A late friend of mine who was on the faculty was able to borrow them and digitally photographed them. Since that time these maps and a good deal of other material was passed on to our archives. This material was part of a project undertaken by two, then Eastern Oregon College, professors who sought in the early 1960's to preserve a bit of the local heritage in the form of somewhat random paperwork and records from various eastern Ore. companies. Thankfully two of these were the Sumpter Valley Railway and the Union Railroad of Ore. It is now possible to get good digital scans of these maps at reasonable prices. Our archives holds another set of these same maps from another source with some duplicates as I recall which are larger folded sheets. Hopefully all of this can be scanned within a few years. One more note about the maps. They all start at MP2 which is about the yard limits headed out of S. Baker up the river. I have yet to find a blue print style map of the S. Baker yard, or the track extending back to the main depot at MP0. Surely they did exist. None the less we have fairly accurate maps of the various track arrangement in Baker by way of Sanborn maps which in a way are better because they give us multiple snap shots of how things layed out and evolved over time. Also Oregon Lumber Co. had maps made showing their facilities at various times which of course also show the SVRy layout in S. Baker.
