When I lived in Gunnison back in the early to mid 80's I drove to Alpine several times in my (formerly my dad's) '69 Mercury Montery aka The Land Yacht. Used to get many a wierd look from the 4wd community, all over Colorado. I miss that car.
BTW I drove past throughly bogged down 4wd vehicles in that old boat more than once-I had sense enough to stay on the road, not short-cut across the meadows(bogs.)
The only real difference between 4wd and 2wd is that 4wd allows you to get 1/4 mile *furthur* from civilization before you get hopelessly stuck!
