I would use some of John's money to paint most of the K-36 boiler jackets Dark Olive (Moffat) Green, and re-letter their tenders like this
:
But I'd paint one as histörically accurate as possible - with a flying
Rio Grande logo.
I would also modify the passenger-car paint scheme to somewhat match the way the parlor car was painted in 2010 - with black letter boards so the railroad's name is a bit easier to read, but glossy maroon paint instead of dull red. I'd also change the roofs to silver (aluminium), have polished brass handrails, and just a touch of bright scarlet red (maybe on the brake valve handles and the retainers) - colors that honor #483 as she was in 1970
: "Cumbres Classic".

Willie (Wm. Claude Johnson-Barr III, Esq.)
