Chaz,
Grandbury is an interesting town. I remember a lot of talk in the early McLaughlin days about running some outside of Fort Worth.
Of course, I understand while Ed McLaughlin was there, the idea was to have operations based out of 8Th Ave yard and tie all the tourist areas in Fort Worth together with a steam train. It's a novel idea. They wanted to go to the arts district, the T&P station, relay the spur to will rogers arena area, etc. There would be shopping for passengers at 8th yard. Ron Larson told me on his last run about a concept for a fancy turn table pit, complete with a water fountain, showy for visitors at the complex. (The turntable at the stockyards was going to be decked over. ) The neighborhood at 8th avenue didn't like any of it (uninformed @#$%& type). City politics got in the way. This was also prior to the redevelopment seen in the city of today.
McLaughlin left early on and the heavy promotions ended.
I hear 2248 should be back by early summer once the 1472 inspection is complete.
