Looking at the photo while it does look like the aftermath of a fire we can see the roundhouse is still standing in the background. I think some of the debris is just the inevitable of the boiler lagging and various parts and pieces being removed. Based on the wheel arrangement I think this has to be RGS #40 after she was wrecked double heading with RGS # 20 on Cima Hill on August 31, 1943. The photo immediately preceding in the Dorman file to the original posted view and the fireman’s side view show the damaged cab.

I am puzzling over the tender in front of the engine as it is 2? With the tool boxes on the water legs maybe auxiliary water tender 21 which saw service with ditcher 030. It almost looks like the coal doors are gone also…
