That fire destroyed the first roundhouse, which was located northwest of town. The roundhouse you always see in the photos in the RGS story, etc, are of the second roundhouse, which was just south of the town park. We recently had an archaeologist study the first roundhouse site, and hopefully he will finish a publication about it this year. There was more left at the site than we imagined. We give a tour during Railroad Days in September. The report should be interesting.
