The D&RGW used Nalco powdered boiler treatment as far as I know- we get the same formula mixed in as a concentrated liquid and it's what we use in D&RGW 346 and 491. 491's boiler was pretty clean to start with and this has prevented scale buildup. 346 had a decent amount of scale built up (nothing dangerous or crazy) and when we switched her onto this treatment everything came out at the first boiler wash. Stuff works great.
