Casey: How is your of the Section House coming along. I like your work on the framework and have it all laser cut. I am about to start building this structure myself to go along with my 1/2 " scale model of the Original Station that I spent 2 years scratch building. I spent a couple hours at the section house the past October measuring it and photographing it so I could build an accurite version and love how the Friends of the C&T have refurbed it. Once completed I will be adding the section house to my Cumbres Pass Indoor G scale layout under construction. When complete is will include the Station, Section House, Bunk House, Tank and part of the snowshed with the other small misc sheds dotted around the place. If I had more space I would have done the Air inspectors house and the Lively's gas station and motel. Like you I am modeling in the 30's and 40's so I can include the water tank which I have half built. I used the drawing in the May /June 87 issue of the gazette to build the statiuon as it was the most accuriate of the various drawings I found over the years. Most of the others including the late Maxwells drawing were far from being correct either in the placement of the doors and windows of the style and design of them. I spent two years gathering as many photos of the station as I could and they date back to 1918 so I know what changes were made to the station over the years and there have only been a few of them which were most notably done to the East end of the station which was adding the windows to the freight room, adding the enclosed toliet and adding the the windows to the upper part of the station when the lively added living area in the attic area. The only Issue I had with W.J. Ewelss plans was his litle drawing of the probable interior. The placement of two of the interior doors are in the wrong locations and the kitchen and bedrooms are swapped.
I am curios about the kind of laser cutter and size that you are using and what program you are using to cut out your parts. I purchased a laser cutter a few months ago and plan on using it to cut parts out for the section house as well as other detaiil parts on other structures as well and rolling stock. But the first use of the laser cutter will be on the section house. Attched are a few photos of my Cumbres Station.
